Xic visible phenotype Giemsa-dark stained inactive X
Notes
  • Reference
The position of Xce is defined as being distal to the T(X;16)16H breakpoint on the X Chromosome.
  • Experiment
Metaphase spreads from EK cells lines HD1, HD2, HD3, HD6, CP4-2 and A13 were analyzed for the presence or absence of an inactive X Chromosome. These cell lines (except A13) carry a distal deletion in one of the two X Chromosomes. In lines A13, CP4-2 and HD3 the inactivation center (Xce) is present on both the intact and deleted chromosome. Whereas in line HD1, HD2 and HD6 the inactivation center is not present. These data indicate that Xce is within band D between the HD2 and HD3 deletion breakpoints.
