Revised gene symol: Pdgfrb (formerly Pdgfr).
  • Experiment
Physical mapping data suggested that the Pdgfrb gene maps 5' to the Csmfr gene. Sequential Southern analysis of ClaI digested BALB/c DNA detected bands of 90 and 425kb with a 5'Pdgfrb cDNA probe and a 425kb band using a 3'Pgfrb cDNA probe or a 5'Csfmr cDNA probe. Using SmaI digested BALB/c DNA, a 70kb fragment was detected with both the 3'Pdgfrb cDNA probe and the 5'Csfmr cDNA probe. These data indicate a maximum separation of 70kb between these loci. However, because the 3'Pdgfrb probe contains nearly half of the Pdgfrb cDNA rather than just the end, it is likely that these loci are much closer and may be separated by a distance similar to that in humans (less than 500bp).
