  Southern analysis of (C57BL/6Ros female x M. spretus male)F1 mice and backcross mice produced by crossing F1 females to C57BL/6Ros demonstrated that Amelx is X-linked. The F1 males inherited the maternal C57BL/6Ros fragment only, and backcross males displayed a fragment characteristic of C57BL/6Ros or M. spretus, but not both.
