Notes

Control of spermatogeneis was impaired in male heterozygous mice from a cross between CBA/J mice and CBA/J mice that carry in homozygous form translocation T(14;15)6Ca (designated T6). This led to the investigation of the involvement of male limited sterility Chromosome 17 genes T and Hst-1 with the T6 translocation carriers. A cross between CBA-T6/T6 and (C57BL/10-T x C3H T/+) mice was initiated. The male progeny that received the H-2d haplotype from T from the C57BL/10-T parent had lower sperm counts and testis weight then males that received H-2k and + from the C3H parent implicating the chromosome segment carrying H-2 and T in male sterility of T6 mice. The involvement of hybrid sterility gene Hst-1 with the inheritance of H-2 and T genotypes in these male progeny was not explained.
