    Levels of isozyme expression (liver) controlled by the Gdc-1 locus on Chromosome 15 varied from a mutated null expression in BALB/cHeA to normal levels in DBA/2J. RFLPs were observed between these two strains using enzyme PuvII and cDNA probe B. DBA/2J had a 3.2 kb fragment and BALB/cHeA had a 3.0 kb fragment. F2 results from mating (DBA/2J and BALB/cHeA)F1 mice showed 11 progeny with the DBA/2J fragment (3.2, kb) and normal activity, 9 with the BALB/cHeA fragment (3.0 kb) and no activity and 25 mice hadboth fragments with intermediate activity. This lack of recombination suggests that the mutation is at or within the Gpd1 locus and has been designated as Gpd1o.
