  • Experiment
Typing of Araf in specific recombinant progeny from the (B6CBARI x SPE/Pas)F1 female x B6CBARI male backcross provided evidence that Araf lies in a 7 cM segment proximal to Hprt on the X-Chromosome, between DXPas7 and DXPas4. Haplotype data provided for 8 recombinant backcross progeny, identified as numbers 6, 9, 22, 48, 58, 66 and 83 which ordered loci as centromere - DXPas7 - Araf - DXPas4 - DXPas5 - Hprt - Ta - DXPas1. The location of Araf was confirmed using Chinese hamster x mouse somatic cell hybrid I5d2. This hybrid, derived from a mouse carrying T(X;12)13Rl, was selected to retain Hprt and had lost the portion of the X Chromosome proximal to the translocation breakpoint including Otc and DXPas7. Mouse Araf was present in hybrid I5d2 confirming its location distal to DXPas7.
