  • Experiment
    Mapping of radiation induced alleles, ldIn2 and aIn2 using cytogenetic and molecular analysis demonstrated that a complex rearrangement Is(17;In2)ld aj 1Gso had occurred. This rearrangement joined the Fmn1 locus to a region at or near the agouti locus and caused sequence disruptions in both loci resulting in mutations. The Fmn1 locus was disrupted at a breakpoint near its 3' end. A probe derived from the region 3' of the lFmn1d breakpoint was followed in a M. spretus backcross and did not recombinewith agouti (0/93) demonstrating that this sequence is normally tightly linked with agouti.
