    DNA from mouse x Chinese hamster somatic cell hybrids was digested with EcoRI and analyzed on Southern blots using pMKSU16, a mouse POMC cDNA probe. Mouse Pomc1, which appeared as a 10.2 kb band, segregated with Chromosome 12 and this assignment was further supported by the presence of the Pomc1 band in hybrid MAE28 that contained only mouse Chromosomes 12 and X.
