    Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of Chinese hamster and mouse cells or rat and mouse cells. Hybrid DNA was digested with MspI, Southern blotted and probed using rat cDNA probe pcTAT-3. Among the rat x mouse microcell hybrids were F(8)E, containing mouse Chromosomes 8 and 9 and F(8)D retaining only mouse Chromosome 8. Both of these microcell hybrids contained the mouse Tat-1 gene.
