  A somatic cell hybrid (96AZ2) between Chinese hamster cell line Ade-C17 and mouse liver cells containing Chromosome 16 as its only mouse chromosome was analyzed. EcoRI digested DNA from 96AZ2 produced an 8.1 kb hamster specific band and bands of 5.2 kb and 3.2 kb that are mouse specific when hybridized with human cDNA probe B2.3 identifying the App locus, thus assigning App to mouse Chromosome 16.
