  Interval-specific congenic strains( ISCS) enabled the authors to define the region on mouse Chromosome 1 containing Alcw1 to a minimal of 1.1 Mb (maximal 1.7 Mb) interval . The congenic strains used were D2.B6-D1Mit206 (D2.B6) and B6.D2- Mtv^7a/Ty derived from DBA/2J and C57BL/6J. From the B6.D2 congenic 4 ISCS lines were developed, R4, R7, R8 and R6. Using these lines Alcw1 mapped between SNP rs32454955 (172.9Mb) and rs31145347 (174.0Mb). Included within this region is D1Mit113(173.6 Mb)
