    The position of H-1 on Chromosome 7 was analyzed using chromosomal rearrangement Is(In7;X)1Ct in which a segment of Chromosome 7 has been inserted into the X Chromosome. To determine whether H-1 was included in the inserted segment on the X Chromosome orwas distal to the breakpoint of Chromosome 7 in Is(In7;X)1Ct, 41 offspring from a cross between Is1Ct females (carrying X7) and B6.C-H-1 congenic males were analyzed. The inheritance of Is(In7;X)1Ct was determined by offspring coat color. The albino locus is carried on the inserted Chromosome 7 segment, thus nonagouti males X7Y, albino males XY, variegated females X7X and albino females XX are produced. In 5 nonagouti males and 12 variegated females (all inherited X7), the expression of H-1 indicated that Chromosome 7 breakpoint in Is(In7;X)1Ct is proximal to H-1 and Hbb.
