Notes
  • Experiment
The congenic line 129-GIX+ exhibits high levels of serum gp70 before and after stimulation with lipopolysaccharide compared to inbred strains 129 and C57BL/6. Production of serum gp70 is believed to be under complex regulation involving at least 2 loci designated Sgp1 and Sgp2. Linkage analysis using a population of (129-GIX+ x C57BL/6)F1 x C57BL/6 mapped Sgp2 to mouse Chromosome 7 at approximately 70 cM. Sgp2 shows linkage to Hbb (50 cM) with recombination rate of 19.5%, but is unlinked to Gpi (11 cM). 129-derived alleles at Sgp2 confer increased serum gp70. A previously identified gene controlling GIX production, Gv2 (74 cM), is also linked to Hbb and may be closely linked to or identical to Sgp2.
