Notes

Inbred strain DBA/2J displays high expression of xenotropic murine leukemia virus associated cell surface antigens (XenCSA) in thymocytes and spleen cells compared to inbred strain C57BL/6J. Analysis of 24 BXD (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains mapped a locus named Cxv2 (control of xenotropic virus 2) to mouse Chromosome 4 near Fv1 (76.5 cM) and centromeric to H6pd (formerly Gpd1; 78.4 cM). The estimated distance between Fv1 and Cxv2 is 7 cM. DBA/2J-derived alleles at Cxv2 is associated with high expression of XenCSA in thymocytes and spleen cells. Analysis of (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J)F1 x DBA/2J backcross animals confirmed the effect of Cxv2.
