Notes
  • Experiment
Cxv1, a locus associated with high thymocyte expression of xenotropic murine leukemia virus (X-MuLV) and X-MuLV associated cell surface antigen (XenCSA), mapped near H2-K1 on mouse Chromosome 17 in a population of (AKR/J x F/St)F1 x F/St backcross animals. Parental strain F/St exhibits high X-MuLV and XenCSA expression in thymocytes. Cxv1 is recessively inherited with F/St-derived alleles conferring high X-MuLV and XenCSA thymocyte expression. Cxv1 is located approximately 1.9 cM from H2-K1.

Moreover, B10.F congenic animals carrying F/St-derived DNA at H2-K1 on a C57BL/10 genetic background exhibit high X-MuLV expression similar to the levels seen in donor strain F/St. This observation supports the existence of Cxv1 on mouse Chromosome 17 near H2-K1.
