  It should be noted here that Pax1^sco is equivalent to Pax1^un-i.
  Heterozygous Pax1^sco carriers were mated to C57BL/
  6J mice and Pax1^sco/+ offspring were intercrossed.
  Forty-six sco offspring of the third generation
  (F3) were used in a genome wide scan for linkage analysis. The sco mutation mapped to a location consistent with Pax1.
