QTLs associated with genomic imprinting were mapped using 338 animals from a (DU6 x DUKs)F2 intercross. 96 polymorphic markers at an average spacing of 12.3 cM were used for the genome scan. Imprinting effects on body weight, abdominal fat weight, abdominal fat percentage, liver weight, kidney weight, and spleen weight were used as quantitative traits.

Significant linkage to imprinting effects on liver and spleen weights mapped to 1 cM on mouse Chromosome 11. The confidence interval for liver weight spans 1 cM - 9 cM while the confidence interval for spleen weight spans 1 cM - 10 cM. This locus is designated Imebt1 (imprinting effect on body traits 1). Paternally-derived DU6 alleles at Imebt1 confer increased organ weights at this locus. Potential candidate genes for Imebt1 are Gck (0.7 cM), Igfbp1 (1.3 cM), and Igfbp3 (1.35 cM). It is also possible that the effect of Imebt1 on growth and body traits is due to a cluster of imprinted genes as opposed to a single imprinted candidate gene.

Significant linkage to imprinting effects were detected on mouse Chromosome 14 at 25 cM for body weight, at 23 cM for liver weight, and at 32 cM for kidney weight. The confidence interval for body weight spans 19 cM - 32 cM and the confidence interval for liver weight spans 19 cM -29 cM. The confidence interval for kidney weight spans 19 cM - 32 cM. This locus is collectively designated Imebt2 (imprinting effect on body traits 2). Maternally-derived DU6 alleles at Imebt2 confer increased body weight, liver weight, and kidney weight.

Suggestive linkage to abdominal fat percentage mapped to 5 cM on mouse Chromosome 3 with paternally-derived DUKs alleles conferring increased abdominal fat percentage. The confidence interval for this locus spans 5 cM - 27 cM. Suggestivelinkage to spleen weight mapped to 48 cM on mouse Chromosome 5 with maternally-derived DU6 alleles conferring increased spleen weight. The confidence interval for this locus spans 42 cM - 56 cM. Suggestive linkage to liver weight mapped to 30 cM on mouseChromosome X with paternally-derived DUKs alleles conferring increased liver weight. The confidence interval for this locus spans 28 cM - 41 cM.
