QTLs linked to the trans regulation of genes involved in the corticotropin-releasing factor system were mapped using male animals from 28 BXD recombinant inbred lines (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J). Transcript abundance of Crh, Crhr1, Crhbp, and Avp were used asquantitative traits. Parental strain DBA/2J exhibits lower transcript abundance of all 4 genes compared to parental strain C57BL/6J. A panel of 975 polymorphic loci was used for linkage analysis.

Significant linkage to Crh expression mapped to mouse Chromosome 13 between 26 cM (D13Mit63) and 30 cM. This locus is named Crhtaq3 (Crh transcript abundance QTL 3), and the 95% confidence interval spans 38 cM. A potential candidate gene mapping near Crhtaq3 is Shc3 at 29 cM. Significant linkage to Avp expression mapped to 45 cM on chromosome 13 near D13Mit126. This locus is named Avptaq3 (Avp transcript abundance QTL 3), and the 95% confidence interval spans 22 cM. A potential candidate gene mapping near Avptaq3 is Nr2f1 at 45 cM. Dps1 (45 cM) is a previously identified QTL mapping near Avptaq3.
