Notes
  • Experiment
Linkage analysis was performed on 402 animals from a B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund x RIIIS/J)F1 x B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund backcross to identify QTLs associated with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) traits. Parental strain B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund is susceptible to developing EAE upon immunization with myelin basic protein (MBP) 89-101 peptide whereas parental strain RIIIS/J is resistant. 150 microsatellite markers were used for the genome scan.

Eae27 mapped to 81.6 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 near D1Mit33 (LRS=12.8). RIIIS/J-derived alleles at Eae27 appear to confer EAE resistance in female animals with a dominant mode of inheritance. Previously identified QTL mapping near Eae27 are Cia9 (92.3 cM), Stia1 (81.6 cM), and Orch4 (110 cM).
