  • Experiment
(NZW x BALB/c.H2z)F1 x NZB and (NZB x BALB/c)F2 crosses were used to find loci linked to autoantibody production and glomerulonephritis related to lupus-like autoimmune syndrome. Whereas New Zealand Black (NZB) and New Zealand White (NZW) mice are susceptible to a lupus-like autoimmune syndrome. Serological and histological SLE traits showed linkage to regions on mouse Chromosome 12 (Sle14) at D12Mit291 with a LOD greater then 3.6. A region on Mouse chromosome 4 (Nbwa2) at D4Mit41 was linked to total serum IgM (p = 9.6 x 10-3) and IgG (p = 1.1 x 10-3) in the B-F2 cohort at 9.3 and 15.6 cM from the centromere, respectively. Various other novel QTLs were found in mouse Chromosomes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 16.
