Notes

The authors identified the mouse histone genes by searching the public and Celera assemblies of the mouse genome. Replication-dependent histone mRNAs were identified as those regions that encode histone proteins and ended in the stem-loop sequence. The order of genes in the Hist3 gene cluster on mouse Chromosome 11 (band B2) is as follows: 5'- Hist3h2ba - 3' - 5 kb - 3'- Hist3h2bb - 5' - 1 kb - 5'- Hist3h2a-3'.
