    The authors constructed a physcial map in an attempt to fine map the Oed-Sml mutation. Informative clones from the RPCI-23 library provided the following order of markers within 600kb of mouse Chromosome 2: D2Ucl1 - D2Mit199 - Gnas -D2Mit345 - D2Mit213 -D2Mit210. Genetic mapping of this region showed Oed-Sml norecombinatnt with D2Ucl1, D2Mit199, D2Mit213 and D2Mit345. Sequence analysis of Oed mice showed a point mutation in exon 6 of Gnas when compared with non-mutant mice. Therefore the authors suggested that Oed-Sml mutation mapped within the Gnas complex.
