Notes
  • Experiment
Strains BALB/c and C57BL/6 were susceptible to West Nile virus (Wnv) whereas MAI/Pas and MBT/Pas were resistant. The Authors used the aformentioned strains in 4 backcrosses to show the Wnv phenotype to segregate within a region of mouse Chromosome 5 flanked by D5Mit431 and D5Mit321. Further crossing refined this region to .46 cM to include D5Mit159 and D5Mit368. Radiation Hybrid maps and sequence analysis were informative to indentify canditate genes within the region, A C-T transiston in exon fourof Oas1a results in the occurrence of a stop codon in susceptible mice.
