  • Experiment
In a mapping study using C57BL/6J x (DBA/2J x C57BL/6J-ApcMin)F1 and DBA/2J x (DBA/2J x C57BL/6J-ApcMin)F1 backcross animals, Mom2 was localized to a 10-14 cM region of mouse Chromosome 18 at approximately 50 cM between markers D18Mit186 and D18Mit213. The position of Mom2 is 24.6 cM +/- 3.8 cM distal to Apc. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer dominantly-inherited protection against polyp formation (88%-95% reduction of polyps) in backcross animals, and this resistance allele was shown to be linked to the ApcMin mutation in the cis configuration. The tumor resistant effect of Mom2 is stronger than that of Mom1 (Pla2g2-Mom1-R) on mouse Chromosome 4.
