Notes
  • Experiment
The Diet1 locus was shown to segregate with plasma bile acid levels in a (C57BL/6By x CAST/Ei)F1 x C57BL/6By backcross. Animals homozygous for C57BL/6By-derived alleles at D2Mit117 exhibit significantly higher plasma bile acid levels than animals heterozygous at D2Mit117. In this study the Diet1 locus spans an 8 cM interval on mouse Chromosome 2 from 2 cM - 10 cM flanked by markers D2Mit76 and D2Mit79. Based on mapping data, 2 candidate genes, Nr1h3 (referred to as LXRalph) and Abcb11 (referred to as Bsep), were excluded because they mapped outside the Diet1 interval and did not segregate with the phenotype.
