Notes
  • Experiment
678 male animals from a (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J)F2 intercross were used to map catalepsy-related QTLs. Markers were typed at an average density of 20 cM. Hpic2, a QTL for haloperidol-induced catalepsy, mapped to 100 cM on Chromosome 1 with a LOD score of 5.0 at D1Mit150. Hpic2 maps to the same relative position as a QTL for open field activity identified by Flint (1995) and Gershenfeld (1997). A significant genetic association exists for catalepsy and open field activity (Kline, 1998). No obvious candidate genes were found in this region. The dilute coat color was found to segregate against the parental phenotype. Dilute DBA/2J animals have a haloperidol ED50 of 0.4 mg/kg and dilute C57BL/6J animals have a haloperidol ED50 of 4.0 mg/kg.
