Notes
  • Experiment
The natural killer gene complex (NKC) is located on mouse Chromosome 6 and includes greater then 2 megabases of genomic DNA. In order to map the Klra4Chok (killer of Chinese hamster ovary cells) phenotype the authors backcrossed recombinant F2 progeny from a (BALB/c x BALB.B6-Cmv1r)F1 x BALB/c cross. This backcrossing method allowed for the establishment of intra-NKC recombinant mouse strains that were informative to show that markers Klrd1, Klra1, Klra4Chok and Klra8 cosegregated without recombination within the 62 cM region of mouse Chromosome 6. A fourth marker identified as Nkg2d was also shown segregating with Klra4Chok.
