    The authors constructed a PAC-based contig of the skeletal myosin heavy chain cluster on mouse Chromosome 11. Several PAC end clones were used as STs in the generation of the physical map. The size of the gene cluster was estimated to be ~350kb. The following order, distance and transcriptional orientation of the genes in the cluster on mouse Chromosome 11 was determined: 471D1T7 - 538C3T7 - 5' - Myh3 - 3' - 5' - Myh2 - 3' - 5' - Myh1 - 380N16T7 - Myh1 - 3' - 630D9T7 - 5' - Myh4 - 3' - 433B7T7 - 561O14T7- 5' - Myh8 - 3' - 386N23T7 - 645M6T7 - 410O9T7 - 5' - Myh13 - 3' - 524K7T7. The distance between Myh2 and Myh1 was estimated to be 4.5kb and the distance between Myh1 and Myh4 was 5.0kb.
