Notes
  • Reference
Authors use Fxy for locus symbol Mid1. Mid1 spans the pseudoautosomal region (PAR) boundary in some mouse species, while it lies entirely within the non-recombining region of the X chromosome in others. Because only the X chromosome version of Mid1 is functional, Mid1 has been assigned to the X chromosome. Please note that varying portions of this gene reside within the PAR in different mouse strains.
  • Experiment
Through analysis of genomic clones, the authors physically map the pseudoautosomal boundry (PAB) marking the point of divergence between conserved X and Y Chromosome sequences. They localize the PAB within an intron of the Mid1 gene. The first three exons of the gene are located on the X Chromosome whereas the 3' exons of the gene are located on both X and Y Chromosomes. The order of loci is reported as: centromere - DXCbl1 - Mid1 (including pseudoautosomal boundry) - DXYCbl3 - DXYCbl2 - ~2kb - DXYCbl1 -telomere.
