Notes
  • Experiment
BALB/cAnPt mice are susceptibile to plasmacytomas whereas DBA/J mice are resistant. A series of congenic strains recombinant for regions of mouse Chromosome 4 in the vicinity of the Pctr2 locus was derived by backcrossing alleles from DBA/2 mice onto the susceptible BALB/cAnPt background. These strains were typed for their tumor susceptibility/resistance phenotypes and then allelotyped for 10 genes and 49 random markers. The smallest region of overlap between the resistant and susceptible strains suggested two posible locations for the Pctr2 gene on mouse Chromosome 4: (1) within the interval between Xmv8 and Xmv44 or (2) in the 1- to 2-cM interval between Nppa and D4Mit190.
