Notes
  • Experiment
The authors mapped the Pas1 lung cancer susceptibility locus using 193 female (BALB/cJ x C3H/HeJ)F2 mice induced with i.p. injections of urethane. SWR/J, BALB/cJ and C3H/HeJ strains are susceptible, intermediately susceptible and resistant to lung tumorigenesis, respectively. F2 mice were analyzed with following loci: D6Mit8, D6Mit32, D6Mit291, D6Mit198, D6Mit157, Kras, D6Mit201, and D6Int1. A peak LOD score of 28.4 was associated with Kras.

12.16.2015 Curator Note: Because Pas1 was orginally mapped in J:17778, in 1997 using an (C57BL/6J x A/J)F2 intercross, which differs from the cross used here, which differs from the cross used here, we consider the current study a separate mapping experiment and have named this QTL Pas18 .

Researchers attempted to confirm the mapping in (BALB/cJ x SWR/J)F2 animals, but no polymorphism could be found at the Kras2 locus, suggesting these strains may share the same Pas1 allele (additionally, no association between Pas1 and D6Mit114, D6Mit294 or D6Mit115 was found).
