Notes
  • Experiment
A total of 84 female (NZB/BlNJ x SM/J)F2 mice were analyzed for 126 genetic markers covering all mouse chromosomes except for the Y Chromosome. An obesity quantitative trait locus (QTL) Bfq1, was significantly associated with a region of mouse Chromosome2 bounded distally by D2Mit28 and proximally by D2Mit22. Additionally, mouse congenic strain B10.LP/SnJ which carries a contributed Chromosome 2 segment from inbred LP/J. The segment which covers a range from 2 cM distal of Ada to 2 cM proximal of H13 wasLP/J like for Bfq1. The congenic findings indicate that the obese phenotype designated as Bfq1 segregated with distal mouse Chromosome 2 loci during the construction of congenic strain B10.LP/SnJ. Bfq1 quantitative trait locus (QTL) can be placed on mouse Chromosome 2 between cM postions 69 and 94 close to D2Mit513. In a personal communication from Dr. Aamir Zuberi to MGI it was suggested that the obesity phenotype in B10.LP/SnJ may in fact be unrelated to Bfq1.
