Caption Almost all Tgdsem1(IMPC)Mbp/Tgdsem1(IMPC)Mbp (Tgds-/-) E8.5 embryos are indistinguishable from control littermates. By E9.5, most Tgds-/- have an abnormal head shape, particularly noticeable in the forebrain. Many have abnormal hearts, some accompanied by cardiac or pericardial edema. When dissected intact, a majority of Tgds mutants also have abnormal yolk sac morphology. Branchial arch defects and incomplete turning is observed in a minority of E9.5 Tgds mutants. All defects are more pronounced in older E9.5 mutants. By E10.5 all Tgds-/-embryos are grossly abnormal and either dead or dying. Those that were recovered and intact all are delayed, have grossly abnormal hearts with severe pericardial edema and abnormal head shape.
