Caption Reactive gliosis in the cerebellum (Top) and hippocampus (middle) of a Prnptm3Lnq/Prnptm3Lnq (CJD) mouse brain (right) revealed by immunohistochemistry for GFAP. Silver staining of 30-um thick sections from wild-type (WT), Prnptm3Lnq/Prnptm3Lnq (CJD) and Prnptm2Lnq/Prnptm2Lnq (FFI) brains reveals neurodegenerated cells (arrows) and dilated ventricles (arrowhead) in FFI but not CJD brains.
