| Caption | Evidence of Mucin misfolding in Muc2wnn/Muc2+ (Win/+) mice. Intestinal tissue from Muc2wnn/Muc2+ mice was fixed with glutaraldehyde, embedded in resin, and semi-thin sections stained with toluidine blue. Note the variable degree of vacuolisation of the goblet cells in the base of the crypts in the proximal large intestine (solid white arrows) and the lack of/minimal vacuolisation in surface goblet cells in the proximal large intestine (hollow arrows), distal large intestine and small intestinal villi.
