Basal and suprasal cells of the urogenital sinus(white star). In A and B, v and d indicate the dorsal and ventral urogenital sinus, respectively. (C) Distal (dist); some cells are weakly positive for Krt5 (white star). In the proximal (prox) prostatic buds, cells in contact with the basal membrane express high Trp63 and Krt5 and low Krt8 levels (white arrowhead). Inner cells of the proximal buds are strongly positive for Krt8 and weakly positive or negative for Trp63 and Krt5 (yellow arrowhead). (D) Prostate basal cells (white arrowhead), prostate secretory cells (yellow arrowhead). In all images, white dotted lines are the basal membranes. Scale bars: 20 microns.
