Rostral is to the top. Immunohistochemistry stained trigeminal nucleus at 10.5 dpc (A,B), 12.5 dpc (C,D), 13.5 dpc (E,F), and 17.5 dpc (K,L). D: Arrow indicates a small population of neurons which lies caudal to the main body of the nucleus. K,L: Serial transverse cryostat sections of homozygous mutant embryo. Note that the trigeminal nucleus is reduced to remnants (arrowheads in L) on one side while still maintained on the other (arrow in L). V: trigeminal motor nucleus. VII: facial motor nucleus.
