Caption Galectin inhibitors markedly decrease inflammatory lymphangiogenesis in vivo in Tg(Prox1-EGFP)KY221Gsat/0 (Prox1-EGFP reporter) mice. (b, c, e, f) Sutures were placed ~2 mm above the limbic vessel in the corneas of the reporter mice (N = 12 or more). (h, i, k, l) Silver nitrate cautery was introduced in the centre of the corneas of the reporter mice (N = 5 or more). The animals were treated with TDG (200 mM in 10 ul, a pan inhibitor of galectins) (c,i), or Gal-8N (15 ug in 10 uL, a dominant negative inhibitor of galectin-8) (f,l) by local subconjunctival injections on days 0, 2, 4 and 6 post-surgery.
