Phenotype Image Detail
Image
Caption Bright and fluorescent images of Neurofilament of b-tubulin innunostained E9.5-10.5 (a) wild-type and (b) Ptch1wig/Ptch1wig (wiggable) embryos. Arrowheads and arrows highlight agenesis or hypoplasia of neuronal differentiation in the midbrain and cranial ganglia. Mutants show excessive neuronal differentiation in the hindbrain of the central nervous system and hypoplasia of the peripheral nervous system including defects in cranial ganglia branching (asterisks and arrowheads). Although the trigeminal, facial, and glossopharyngeal ganglia form, each appears smaller and disconnected from the neural tube. Abbreviations: pl, plexus; f, facioacoustic/vestibule cochlear; g, glossopharyngeal; tg, trigeminal; v. vagal.
