Perturbed olfactory bulb (OB) layering and proliferation in the Plxnb2^tm1Matl/Plxnb2^tm1Matl mutant. A-D are coronal sections of the OB of adult heterozygous (A, B) or homozygous (C, D) mice stained with Hoechst. Whereas in the heterozygous OB (A, B) the mitral cell layer (arrowheads) is well separated from the granule cell layer by the cell-free inner plexiform layer (arrows), in homozygous OB (C, D) the two layers are not clearly delineated/distinguishable. F-G illustrate that proliferation is reduced in the adult subventricular zone (SVZ) of homozygous mutant mice. F and G are representative pictures of heterozygous and homozygous mice showing BrdU+ cells in the SVZ. H, Quantification of the number of BrdU+ cells per section.
