Wild-type (WT). (A) Histochemical analysis of mitochondrial respiratory enzyme activities in the heart and kidney. Tissue sections were stained for cytochrome c oxidase (COX) (brown) and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) (blue). Cells that had lost COX activity were detected as a blue color. The proportions of DmtDNA in the heart and kidney tissues from mito-miceDelta were 82.6%, and 79.1%, respectively. A scale bar, 50 um.
