Sections from E15.5 wild-type (A-L) and Ihh-/- (M-X) mice were analyzed by in situ hybridization in the (A-F, M-R) intrasphenoidal (is) and the (G-L, S-X) sphenooccipital (so) synchondroses. Arrowheads indicate expression domains in the pre-hypertrophic zone (B,H); proliferating zone (C,I); pre-hypertrophic and hypertrophic zones (F,L). Brackets (D-E, J-K) indicate expression in the reserve/proliferative area. Scale bar: (A-X) 150 um.
