Caption

A postaxial digit-like structure grew out laterally of the fifth finger of forelimbs in all Tfap2b^tm1Rbu/Tfap2b^tm1Rbu (Tfap2b^-/-) mice (a). Alizarin-red staining indicated a skeletal element within the accessory digit (b). Whole mount in situ hybridization showed Tfap2b expression in the posterior region of the forelimbs at E10.5 (c), E11.5 (d) and E12.5 (e).
