Transmission electron microscopy of cardiac (a and b) and skin tissues (c and d) of E11.5 embryos, and of small intestine (e and f) of E16 embryos. In Jup^tm1Ruiz/Jup⁺ mice (a, c and e), desmosomes (arrowheads) as well as adherens junctions (arrows) are abundant. Jup^tm1Ruiz/Jup^tm1Ruiz mice lack typical desmosomes in myocardium (b), but not in the epidermis (d) and gut (f). Bar 0.5 um.
