Skeletons from newborn (A-C) and 2 month old mice (D-I) were stained with Alcian blue and alzarin red, respectively. Bone ossification was slightly delayed in the Dym^{Gt(GTR1.3)1Rul}/Dym^{Gt(GTR1.3)1Rul} (-/-) as compared with the Dym^{Gt(GTR1.3)1Rul}/Dym⁺ (+/-) mice (A-C), as illustrated by lighter blue-staining cartilaginous regions. Bone defects observed in mutant mice included changes in skull size (D), mandibular overclosure (E), humerus length (F), rib cage volume (G), tail size (H), and femur length (I).
