Caption Cell proliferation and apoptosis in terminal end buds of wild-type and Ncoa6tm1Jkr/Ncoa6tm1Jkr Tg(MMTV-cre)FMam/? mice. A and B: Six week old mice were injected with BrdUrd and iguinal mammary glands were prepared, fixed and sectioned and stained with anti-BrdUrd. No difference in cell proliferation was observed between wild-type (A) and Ncoa6tm1Jkr/Ncoa6tm1Jkr Tg(MMTV-cre)FMam/? (B) mammary glands. C and D: Immunohistochemistry was performed on mammary gland sections to detect TUNEL-positive cells undergoing apoptosis. Note the increased appotosis in terminal end buds from mutant glands (D) as compared with those from wild-type mammary glands (C).
