Caption Wild-type mice (A & B), Pthlhtm1Hmk/Pthlhtm1Hmk Tg(Col2a1-PTHLH)2Ecw/0 mice (C & D). External incisors and molars are clearly absent from both the maxilla (compare A & C) and mandible (compare B & D) in the mutant mice. The lack of functional dentition in the mutant mouse is superimposed on the undelying features of the cranial chondrodystrophy, which included foreshortening of the maxilla and mandible.
