DAPI staining was artificially colored red, so that nuclei of expressing cells were yellow. Arrow and arrowhead in (a) indicate presumptive bulge and precortex of a pelage follicle, respectively. Arrow in (c) indicates outer root sheath cells of a whisker follicle. Arrow and * in (e) point to lung epithelial cells and mesenchymal cells, respectively. Arrow and arrowhead in (g) indicate intestinal epithelial and mesenchymal cells, respectively. * in (g) indicates nonspecific signals. Insets in (a) and (c) are high magnification images showing nuclear presence of the protein. White lines denote basement membrane.
