Mice homozygous for the tubby mutation experience maturity-onset obisity. Tub^tub/Tub^tub mice are recognizable by inclreased body weight between 3 to 6 months of age. Homozygous mutant mice also exhibit retinal degeneration as well as progressive hearing loss.
