Se, Sertoli cell; Sc, spermatocyte; rSt, round spermatid; eSt, elongated spermatid. Spermatogonial subtypes: A, In (intermediate), B. Spermatocytes: PL (preleptotene), LE (leptotene), Z (zygotene), P (pachytene), D (diplotene), mm (meiosis). The 16 stages of spermatid maturation are indicated as Arabic numerals. Multiple sections from at least four different testes were examined. Scale bar equals 10 microns in A-C.
